Munir Zulu, 35, of Meanwood Ndeke, has been charged and detained by police on three counts of libel.
According to a statement from police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale, the suspect is accused of making defamatory statements on March 21, 2023 in Lusaka in which he allegedly claimed that Minister of Finance and National Planning Situmbeko Musokotwane had fraudulently received a $250,000 US bank transfer from a business he knew.
According to the second count, it is alleged that on March 21, 2023 in Lusaka, the suspect made defamatory statements in which he claimed that Minister of Infrastructure, Housing, and Urban Development Charles Milupi had received $250,000 US via bank transfer in corrupt manners from a business the suspect knew about.
Additionally, according to Mr. Mwale, on March 21, 2023 in Lusaka, the suspect allegedly made defamatory remarks about Engineer Mulchand Kuntawala, alleging that the Engineer had sent money to Honourable Charles Mulupi via bank transfer totaling $150,000 US dollars two days prior to his appointment as the Board Chairperson for the Roads Development Agency (RDA).
He said, “The suspect has been freed on Police Bail pending court appearance.”
