Under the Expanded Community-based Smallholder Irrigation project, E-COBSI, the Ministry of Agriculture in the Northern Province has instructed Agricultural Officers to select model sites for setting up smallholder irrigation infrastructure.
Northern Province Agricultural Coordinator Syvester Nyendwa urged the District Agricultural Coordinators to duplicate the project operations in other regions while speaking at the E-COBSI training workshop in Kasama.
Mr. NYENDWA pointed out that the E-COBSI project, which is supported by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA), has embraced the Smallholder Horticulture Empowerment and Promotion (SHEP) method, which brings about Market Oriented Agriculture.
Additionally, INNOCENT MULAUZI, the principal agricultural officer for the Northern Province, stated that the government has put in place sustainability procedures for active locations after the project’s Lifespan.
