An intelligence officer who was charged with three charges of sodomy under Zambian law has been cleared by the Kasama High Court.
A 15-year-old child is believed to have been sodomized by MOSES CHANDA, 37, in the Luwingu District on known dates.
According to the evidence presented in court, Mr. Chanda is accused of knowing about a 15-year-old child on June 26, 2018, and he allegedly gave him 20 Kwacha as a thank-you gift.
In the second count, it was claimed that on June 27, 2018, Mr. Chanda and the 15-year-old kid engaged in a similar act. In the third count, it is claimed that on June 28, 2018, Mr. Chanda performed the deed and handed the boy 60 Kwacha as payment for it.
The state failed to establish any prima facie evidence against Mr. Chanda in any of the three counts when the case came up for judgment last week, and Kasama High Court Resident Justice MATHEWS ZULU cleared him of all charges.
