A WOMAN who is accused of abandoning her two-day-old infant in the jungle has been found.
On Wednesday of this week, locals in Kafue’s Shikoswe neighborhood found a baby wrapped in plastic and Chitenge next to a mountain.
The infant was taken urgently to Kafue General Hospital for medical care, and police were notified later.
The accused mother, named as Oyice Hangoma, age 22, of the Kalundu view compound in the Shikoswe region, has also been arrested, according to an update from police deputy spokeswoman Danny Mwale.
According to Mr. Mwale, her older sister, who lives at the same address, told the police that her sister was pregnant on February 7, 2023, but she lied to her and stated she had a miscarriage.
