In an operation targeting “junkies” in Kamanga, Kaunda Square, and Ng’ombe Complexes, police and members of the Community Crime Prevention Unit apprehended 96 people.
The suspects, nine of whom are women, range in age from 13 to 30.
The operation was carried out between March 14, 2023, at roughly 17:00, and March 15, 2023, at 05:00, according to police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale.
“During the process, some of suspects were found with suspected drugs and the Drug Enforcement Commission has since been engaged.Suspects are currently in detention charged with the offence of Idle and Disorderly,” he said.
Mr Mwale said the operations will continue in order to restore law and order in the communities.
