Ten individuals, aged between 16 and 50, have been charged and detained by police in Mwinilunga for the suspected murder of headman KABANDA in November of last year.
A mob is said to have slain the deceased headman of Kabanda, ALBERT KATOKA, age 70, on the grounds of witchcraft.
According to investigations, EXHUDAH KAYENDA, 30, of Kabanda compound, died on November 15th, 2017, following a brief illness, according to Zambia Police Deputy Public Relations Officer DANNY MWALE.
According to Mr. MWALE, several Kabanda complex residents allegedly believed the headman was responsible for her demise.
The mob proceeded to Mr. Katoka’s house right after his funeral on November 17, destroyed it, and stoned him while others beat him with sticks.
He said that after receiving a warning, the police intervened to save the victim, who was later pronounced dead at Mwinilunga District Hospital.
According to Mr. MWALE, the police launched thorough investigations that resulted in the arrest of some of the offenders.
