Political party nominees who have been nominated to lead Constituency Development Funds – CDF – committees must renounce their party seats, according to Local Government and Rural Development Minister GARY NKOMBO.
According to Mr. NKOMBO, this is necessary for them to follow the rules established for the management of the funds.
In Livingstone, the Minister informed journalists that the Ministry of Local Government had learned that some political party leaders had continued to hold those positions while also taking an active part in the running of CDF.
He claimed that according to established rules, anyone holding a political office inside a party structure is ineligible to serve in any capacity on the CDF committee.
Mr. NKOMBO claimed that his government has written to all councils in cases where there is enough proof to get rid of office bearers from a political party.
