The Vatican has announced that Pope Francis’ visit to South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo has been postponed until early 2019.
The Vatican announced that the pope will visit the two nations between January 31 and February 5.
He will spend the final two days of his tour in South Sudan, where he will be accompanied by the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, it stated.
The pope’s trip to the two nations was originally planned for July of this year but was postponed due to his health issues.
He will see bishops, other clergy, and members of civil society in both nations while being hosted by the presidents of the two states. He is also anticipated to meet internally displaced individuals in South Sudan.
