NYAMBE MUYUMBANA, the mayor of Mongu, has been placed on leave for a year.
This comes after a special council meeting that was held in accordance with the Local Government Act following a petition.
In addition to other issues, the mayor’s behavior was examined at the meeting.
As a result of the mayor’s suspension, according to Mongu Town Clerk OLIVER MUUKA, Deputy Mayor SUZYO NG’UNI will take over as mayor of Mongu starting today.
Mr. MUYUMBANA was detained by the police for assault last month.
