South African businessman Sphamandla Mabonga, famous for his relationship with media personality Londie London, is under police watch following a shootout between him and security personnel at Tempo Luxury Restaurant and Lounge in Sandton on Saturday morning.
According to a local publication, the upmarket entertainment establishment has opened a case against the businessman.
“I heard that he was arrested after he was admitted so the police are watching him. I got a call because I have opened a case against him. [Police] called me to come and identify the suspect so he can be arrested for my matter,” a source told the publication.
Police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, said police are investigating two counts of attempted murder and assault. Nevhuhulwi added that one person was arrested and is currently under police watch at the hospital.

Mabonga was reportedly shot in the ribs and admitted to Mediclinic in the Morning side before being transferred to another hospital.
In the statement released on Saturday, Tempo management said that the incident occurred outside the restaurant where three people were wounded.
“During the incident, an individual attempted to enter our establishment with firearms. Our steadfast security team, enforcing our strict policy against firearms entering the premises, denied the individual entry, leading to a verbal dispute.
“Regrettably the incident escalated and resulted in the wounding of two of our staff members as well as the said individual. The incident unfolded outside the premises, and none of our patrons inside the establishment were harmed,” it said.
The establishment, which extended its heartfelt and sincere apologies to the victims affected by the incident, said it is “fully committed to supporting them during their recovery.”
