Goodson Mutemela, a truck driver from the Zani Muone neighborhood of Lusaka, is the target of a police manhunt for the crime of Servant Theft.
The defendant is accused of stealing copper concentrates worth USD 80,280.15 that belonged to Zamfast Logistics Group Limited of Lusaka while he was working there as a driver.
According to police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale, Mutemela was given the task of transporting the shipment from Kasumbalesa to South Africa via Lusaka on December 28, 2022.
The defendant is believed to have turned off both his phone and the car tracking device on December 30, 2022.
“Police were alerted and immediate instituted investigations into the matter,” he said.
The Shacman Truck, with registration number AIC 1642 and trailer number BAL 2889, were later found abandoned with the keys in the ignition along the Ndola-Kapiri-Mposhi route near the Kafulafuta weighbridge, according to Mr. Mwale.
“Police have have continued with investigations. We appeal to members of the public with any information which may lead to the arrest of the suspect to report to any nearest police station,” he said.
