Turkey Earthquake: More Than 4,800 People Have Died

2,660 people from 65 different countries have reportedly been sent to assist with the search and rescue operation, according to the most recent update from Turkey’s disaster and emergency agency, AFAD.

13,740 personnel have already been tasked with working in the disaster region with the Turkish rescuers.

360 vehicles and 629 cranes are being used.

The AFAD further reports that 146 aid-delivery sorties have already been conducted and that an air bridge has been established.

A total of 300,000 blankets, 41,504 family tents, heaters, and kitchen sets have been delivered.

India has dispatched relief materials and search and rescue teams to earthquake-stricken Turkey.

Arindam Bagchi, a spokesman for the Indian Foreign Ministry, reported that Delhi had sent its first group of teams to the country with medical supplies, trained dog squads, drilling machinery, and other essential tools.

He posted images of cargo being carried onto an Indian Air Force aircraft before it took off early on Tuesday morning from Delhi.

The 1.4 billion Indians expressed their sympathy for the people of Turkey who were devastated by the earthquake on Monday, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“A friend in need is a friend indeed,” the Turkish ambassador to India Firat Sunel said in thanks.
