VP Mutale Nalumango closes Summit for Democracy

If the voice of democracy is to flourish, says VICE President Mutale Nalumango, networking and cooperation should continue after the summit.

Since then, Ms. Nalumango has pleaded with Summit for Democracy attendees to fulfill the commitments made during the Second Summit for Democracy if democracy is to fly high.

The Vice President stated progress on Summit agreements should be demonstrated during today’s end of the second Summit for Democracy.

“The summit has resulted in concrete commitments for Democracy. Let us endeavour for democratic governance. As Africa countries, we have made commitment for democracy. We have a collective responsibility to deliver. Let us continue networking, collaborating and deliver on the promises from the summit,” she said.

Moreover, Monde Muyangwa, Assistant Administration for Africa at USAID, stated that for democracy to flourish, all players must work together.

“Democracy is not easy, but we have no shied away. The discussions have been inspiring. I leave here inspired by strong and unwaivering beliefs for democracy. I am inspired by the willingness to deepen democracy,” she said.

She continued by reassuring African leaders that the route to democracy is not always simple and that they should be inspired by summits like this one, whose goal is to further democracy.
