The national women’s hockey team of Zambia has earned a spot in the 2024 Hockey Fives World Cup in Oman.
This follows victories over Namibia (3-2) and South Africa (6-3) in the current Africa Hockey Fives World Cup Qualifiers in Egypt.
Zambia qualified for the world cup with one game remaining thanks to Namibia’s surprise victory over South Africa.
Zambia Women’s Hockey National Squad stand in Coach GODFREY LWANDO stated it is encouraging because the team is the first among African competitors to qualify for the world cup in a statement to ZNBC Sports News.
Vice Captain MARTHA KALOMO stated that the team started its preparations early, and that this strategy should be used at the World Cup. She added that the results are paying off.
The team’s goal is to win gold in Egypt, according to player BRENDA KALUNGA, who also claimed that making it to the world cup is a dream come true.
