A French-based waste recycling business is thinking about collaborating with Zambia to start recycling rubbish and creating renewable energy.
Veolia burns 130,000 tonnes of garbage annually, resulting in the production of 65,000 megawatts of power.
According to LILIA RULLE, Senior Advisor at Veolia for Development and Foreign Direct Investment Relations, the company is prepared and eager to work with Zambia and support it by utilizing its expertise and technical solutions for the project.
According to GWENAL LE FOURNIS, Technical Director of Industrial Units at Veolia, a strong regulatory framework that prevents the unlawful dumping of trash and a defined commercial strategy are essential for the implementation of a waste to energy project.
The two were conversing when CHRISTINE KASEBA, the ambassador of Zambia to France, visited the Veolia waste-to-energy recycling facility in Monthyon, France.
Due of Zambia’s underutilized landfill, Dr. KASEBA has requested that Veolia extend its operations there.
The First Secretary for Press at the Zambian Embassy in Paris, France, NAOMI MWEEMBA, said this in a statement to ZNBC News.
