Prior to the 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games, which will take place in Trinidad and Tobago, a Caribbean country, Zambia has been given seven places for individual sports.
According to BONIFACE KAMBIKAMBI, secretary general of the National Olympic Committee of Zambia, the nation will compete in swimming, cycling, and athletics.
However, KAMBIKAMBI asserts that if Zambia is granted more spots in team sports, the number of athletes is likely to rise.
He claims that if the International Federation decides to provide Zambia extra seats, the nation will also have representatives in Beach Volleyball, Netball, and Rugby Sevens Men and Women.
He claims that on January 27, 2023, the final decision regarding the team sport selection will be made.
The NOCZ Zambia, according to KAMBIKAMBI, has since written to Sports Associations to request information about the athletes who would travel for the competitions.
The 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games will take place in August from 4 to 11.
