The deadline for the live facial capture experiment, which expires on February 28th 2023, will not be extended, according to the Zambia Information and Communication Technology Authority (ZICTA).
The live facial capture exercise is highly significant for subscribers, according to ZICTA Manager for Corporate Affairs HANFORD CHAABA, because it would increase security in cyberspace.
Mr. CHAABA has made it clear that only consumers who purchased sim cards in August 2019 or after and who have received communications from their service providers are eligible to participate in the exercise.
In an interview, Mr. CHAABA stated to ZANIS that the procedure would make it simple for ZICTA to monitor mobile fraud operations in cyberspace and other crimes involving mobile devices.
