After being attacked in Mufulira Township by two boys who were 14 and 15, a 12-year-old girl from Mufulira passed away.
The victim is thought to have suffered head and chest injuries as a result of the assault by the two young attackers.
Gladys Sope was assaulted by two adolescents aged 14 and 15 on December 11 this year at around 14:00, according to Copperbelt commanding officer Peacewell Mweemba.
He said that following the assault, the victim was checked into Arthur Davidson Children’s Hospital (ADCH), where she tragically passed away on December 16.
“A postmortem was conducted on yesterday on the body of the deceased at Kitwe Teaching Hospital, and preliminary results indicate that she died as a result of head and chest injuries, sustained after being assaulted by the two juveniles. The two suspects have been detained in custody, and will appear before court soon,” he said.
