For the academic year 2022–2023, the University of Zambia has received student loan funding from the Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board (HELSB).
4,515 applications for sponsorship at the University of Zambia were received by the board, according to HELSB Senior Corporate Communications Officer CHISELWA KAWANDA.
According to Ms. KAWANDA, out of the applicants, 4,075 qualified for sponsorship while 440 did not.
The ineligible candidates, according to her, completed Grade 12 before 2018, failed to attach the needed documentation to the student loan application, were older than 24 years old, and had acceptance letters for the 2021 academic year.
The board received 13 applications from students who live with disabilities, 11 from men and 2 from women, accounting for 0.3% of all applicants, Ms. KAWANDA continues.
She claims that 282 men and 2,433 women were chosen as students.
