The 2009 Non-Governmental Organization NGOs Act is currently being repealed and replaced by the government.
The act, according to DOREEN MWAMBA, Minister of Community Development and Social Services, will improve NGO activities among other things related to human rights.
Nonetheless, Ms. MWAMBA commended NGOs for their numerous efforts that have helped the nation flourish.
At a celebration of the First World NGO Day in Zambia that was held at the Mulungushi Conference Center in Lusaka, the Minister made this statement.
Also, Ms. MWAMBA stated that the government will keep fostering an environment that encourages NGOs to actively engage in development.
In order to improve their integrity, she has urged NGOs to conduct money transactions through financial institutions and other authorized channels.
