Two brothers have been detained by police in Central Province’s Luano District for allegedly killing their 83-year-old father.
It is believed that the brothers LENTON 43 and COURAGEOUS 39 murdered their father KASIMILO CHIPANAMA because they thought he was a witch.
David Chileshe, the commissioner of police for the Central Province, revealed this in a statement.
When the older boy got home on April 10, 2023, roughly 18 hours later, his mother, ELDAH CHIPANAMA, allegedly intervened to stop him from assaulting the father with a rake.
He claimed that LENTON chased after his father after he had fled the beatings and then came to tell the family that his father had killed himself.
However, Mr. Chileshe claimed that once the incident was reported to the police, they went to the crime scene and examined the body, finding many wounds.
While the two have been detained and charged with murder, awaiting court appearance, the deceased’s body has since been placed in the Luano Mine Hospital Mortuary for postmortem examination.
