A Chinese national who reportedly took K1,000,000 in cash from his employer’s home a week ago has been caught by police.
A designated resort in Kafue was where Ruan Chandan, a supervisor at Max Beef Company in Chawama, was apprehended on Thursday at around 21:00. No money was found on the suspect.
Police started looking for the guy who had stolen money from his boss earlier.
“The suspect is alleged to have stolen the money from his employer identified as Ye Jianbin 47, also a Chinese national and owner of Max Beef Company. The money is said to have been stolen from the house on February 3, 2023 around 14:00 hours,” Zambia police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale said.
Mr Mwale said the suspect knew that the money was being kept in the house.
However, Mr Mwale has confirmed in a recent statement that the suspect and is currently detained in Police custody.
“He was picked in Kafue at a named lodge on February 9, 2023 around 21:00 hours. No money was recovered from the suspect. He is charged with the offence of Theft by Servant,” he said.
