In order to save the government spending a lot of money on contractors, local authorities are being urged by Local Government and Rural Development Minister GARY NKOMBO to purchase earth moving equipment and begin construction on feeder roads.
Speaking during a courtesy call on Mumbwa District Commissioner NAMUKULO HAYUMBU, Mr. NKOMBO claimed that in the past, the government had paid private contractors who had built rural roads inefficiently.
He revealed that although two feeder roads in the Mumbwa District alone had been funded by the government, the actual construction was not up to par.
Also, Ms. HAYUMBU claimed that the district has developed significantly as a result of the rise in CDF.
Meanwhile, CREDO NANJUWA, a member of parliament for Mumbwa Central, said that more than a thousand desks were built with CDF money.
