Improved Access to Electricity and Renewable Energy Production (IAEREP) is a capacity-building project funded by the European Union (EU) with 40 million euros.
According to CHISANGANO ZYAMBO, Permanent Secretary for Administration at the Ministry of Energy, the project would aid in closing the knowledge and skill gap discovered during the deployment of off-grid renewable energy electrification projects in rural areas.
During the project’s debut, Ms. ZYAMBO, who was represented by Assistant Director MICHEAL MULASIKWANDA, spoke.
She is confident that the project would help REA better carry out their mandate of expanding access to power in rural areas.
Furthermore, according to EU Chief of Cooperation CLAUDIO BACIGALUPI, the European Union will keep collaborating with Zambia across the board.
The initiative, according to REA Chief Executive Officer LINUS CHANDA, is timely and essential to maintain capacity for REA and other sector actors active in the energy industry.
