People in the flood-prone parts of the Luangwa district have been urged to relocate to higher ground by the provincial government in Lusaka.
This follows the district’s anticipated flooding at the end of this month.
Robert Kamalata, the provincial permanent secretary, claims that his office has launched a program of sensitization to warn residents living along the banks of the Luangwa River to migrate to higher ground in order to prevent casualties.
Heavy rains have continued to fall in Zambia, and more are expected.
