According to President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA, the $22 million Copperbelt Energy Corporation (CEC) Solar Project in Kitwe will increase the nation’s energy security.
President HICHILEMA remarked that building the plant is a significant accomplishment since 33 megawatts of power would be fed into the national grid as he officially opened the Kitwe Solar Project today.
He added that in order to guarantee that the nation has enough energy, the government will support CEC and other energy projects.
According to President HICHILEMA, improving the energy sector is a prerequisite for economic growth.
Also, according to energy minister PETER KAPALA, the energy industry is crucial to boosting economic growth and enhancing citizen quality of life.
The solar facility, according to CEC Board Chair LONDON MWAFULILWA, can power 10,000 homes with a daily use of 15 units.
The power company will work with the government to generate chances to further social development, particularly in the energy sector, according to CEC Chief Executive Officer OWEN SILAVWE.
