Following intense rains in Lumezi District, Eastern Province, ten bridges have entirely disappeared, and several more are in danger of collapsing.
Areas in the Lumezi valley are now blocked off from the rest of the district as a result of the disaster.
According to IRVIN MUYUMBA, the public relations officer for the Lumezi District Council, the four bridges that have collapsed are Luamphamba, Chankalamu, Katete, and Makungwa.
The bridges at Lusangazi, Lumezi, and Kapaipi are also impacted.
According to a statement from Mr. MUYUMBA to ZNBC news, the local authority has so far released a total of 150 000 kwacha towards the Lusangazi bridge under the 2021 Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
