Kamala Harris the Democratic Nominee for President in the United States’ November election – is finalising her running mate pick this weekend. Since Friday, she has conducted interviews for her Vice Presidential (VP) hopefuls that include some of the rising stars in the Democratic Party.
Harris secured her party’s nomination on Friday, by virtue of a virtual vote by the nearly 4000 delegates to the party’s convention later this month, surpassing the threshold needed to become the nominee and in so doing making history.
Harris’ VP pick could come as early as Monday but definitely ahead of her first public appearance with her new running mate on Tuesday in Philadelphia – the start of a swing through the battleground states by the Democratic duo this week.
Harris also became the first backed woman to lead a major party ticket into a presidential election and only the second woman after Hillary Clinton’s failed attempt against the very man Harris must beat this November, if she’s to become the first female President in United States history.
Her VP choice is of some consequence as the nominee seeks to bolster her chances at shoring up support in Midwestern, working class swing states critical to her success in this election.
