Under the 2023 Constituency Development Funds-CDF allocation, Livingstone District will purchase more than 5,000 desks this year.
According to Livingstone City Council Public Relations Manager MELVIN MUKELA, the desks will likely cost around 5.7 million Kwacha to purchase.
The Ministry of Education has already given the desk designs approval, according to Mr. MUKELA, who told ZNBC News in Livingstone that all that is left to do is secure funds.
He said that as soon as funding becomes available, the purchasing procedure will be completed rapidly to comply with the president’s order that by the end of the year, no children be allowed to sit on the floor.
