The government has been urged by the Zambia Association of Manufacturers (ZAM) to exempt the industrial industry from the load-shedding schedule.
Load-shedding, according to ZAM Chief Executive Officer MUTANGA LINDUNDA, harms factory output.
According to Ms. LINDUNDA, ZNBC News, the manufacturing industry is still implementing cleaner technologies, but the acceptance rate is still low due to the prohibitive costs of creating greener energy.
Additionally, the ZACCI, the Zambian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, announced that it would keep holding discussions on the effects of load shedding.
ZACCI President CHABUKA KAWESHA has encouraged the government to use the private sector to address the nation’s electricity shortage.
