In a harrowing incident, a 24-year-old woman admitted to the ICU of a private hospital in Rajasthan’s Alwar district was reportedly raped by a nursing assistant.
According to NDTV, the alleged assault occurred around 4 am, with the survivor claiming that the accused administered an injection to render her unconscious when she tried to raise an alarm.
The victim, undergoing treatment for a lung infection, recounted her ordeal after regaining consciousness when her husband contacted her via mobile phone.
According to media reports, the woman said that one of the male nursing staff came to the ICU in the middle of the night. He drew the curtains of the room and started making lewd gestures, and injected the woman when she resisted.
The woman said that when she regained consciousness, she tried to make noise, on which the accused threatened to inject her again.
The alleged rape victim said that she tried to ask a female nurse for help, but instead of helping, the female nurse started threatening her too.
According to media reports, as soon as her husband came in the morning, the woman informed him about the entire incident and filed a complaint with the police, on which the police, taking action, obtained the CCTV footage of the ICU and arrested the accused.
The accused, identified as Chirag Yadav, has been detained for interrogation, with CCTV footage showing him approaching the victim’s bed and obscuring it with curtains. An FIR has been filed, and authorities are conducting a thorough investigation into the distressing incident.
