The majority of Zambian children under the age of five, according to the Department of National Registration, Passport and Citizenship Principal, are not registered.
All births should be registered, according to Home Affairs and Internal Security Minister JACK MWIIMBU, who was speaking at the announcement of the National Civil Registration and Vital Statistics Policy.
In order for the state to be able to account for its citizens, Mr. MWIIMBU added that it is crucial for all fatalities to be reported to the department.
According to him, this regulation would also serve as the foundation for upcoming legal review procedures.
While praising the administration, UN Resident Coordinator BEATRICE MUTALI said that statistics are crucial for tracking the Sustainable Development Goals and many other developmental plans and goals.
