On Saturday, there will be the first memorial service for the late Rupiah Bwezani Banda, the fourth President of Zambia.
At 10:00 a.m., the Anglican Cathedral of the Holy Cross will host the Memorial Church Service, which will be presided over by President Hakainde Hichilema and First Lady Mutinta Hichilema.
The Memorial Church Service will be followed by the Blessing of the Grave Stone and Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Presidential Burial Ground, Embassy Park, Lusaka, the Secretary to the Cabinet Patrick Kangwa said in a statement yesterday.
“The general public is, however, advised that attendance at the Blessing of the Tomb Stone and Wreath Laying Ceremony is strictly by invitation,” Mr Kangwa said.
He said the event has been restricted to only close family members of the Late Fourth President and a few invited guests.
“Members of the public are encouraged to follow the live proceedings of the
First Memorial of the Late His Excellency Mr. Rupiah Bwezani Banda, on the National Broadcaster, Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation Television and other media platforms,” Mr Kangwa said.
