Threats to sue the government for the damaging blackouts in the nation have been made by opposition organizations, a trade union, and business owners in South Africa.
They have given the administration till Friday to stabilize the supply of energy or risk legal action for failing to uphold its obligation to do so.
They claim that the state is in violation of its commitment to deliver power and have sent a demand letter to Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan and Eskom CEO Andre de Ruyter.
Due to poor management and mismanagement at the state-owned company Eskom, the blackouts have lasted for more than ten years.
Recently, the nation has seen daily power outages of up to ten hours.
Due to the issue, the president decided to meet with business and labor leaders at home instead of traveling to the World Economic Forum in Davos.
