A scheme to increase agricultural production will assist 28,000 farmers in the Southern and Western Provinces.
The three-year Food Security project is supported by the German government.
According to PAUL NYAMBE, the agricultural officer for the Southern Province, the project also aims to increase crop diversity among small-scale farmers’ diets.
The project’s other goal, according to Mr. NYAMBE, is to boost household income for small-scale farmers by establishing market connections.
According to him, the project will be carried out in Sesheke in the Western Province and Choma, Gwembe, Sinazongwe, and Kazungula in the Southern Province.

Dr. KAFULA CHISANGA, the program manager at the Mcohipapa Zambia Agriculture Research Institute, also stated that the social sciences and farming systems are used to do research at his institute.
