Heavy rains in Southern Province’s Siavonga District caused the roofs of 30 homes, two schools, and a church to blow off, leaving several families without a place to live.
Game, Kaleya, and Mitchel are the affected areas, according to GWENDOLYN MCHENGA, the Siavonga Town Council’s public relations officer.
According to Ms. MCHENGA, the impacted buildings include the homes and classroom blocks at the Game Primary and Kariba Primary and Secondary Schools as well as a Salvation Army church.
She revealed that the Siavonga District Disaster Management Committee had assessed the affected areas to determine the extent of the roof damage and had then submitted a report to the Constituency Development Fund Committee for possible approval.
This is in accordance with a statement made yesterday in Siavonga by Ms. MCHENGA.
