Student at UNZA dies by suicide

A University of Zambia (UNZA) student is said to have killed himself.

The event took place at House E5, Handsworth Court, University of Zambia, yesterday at about 9:00 a.m.

Police were notified that a student only known as Mashuko Kanjipite, a student at the University of Zambia, had been discovered hanging on the bathroom window, according to police assistant public relations officer Godfrey Chilabi.

“He was immediately rushed to Levy Mwanawasa University Teaching Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. The deceased’s body was deposited in the same Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem and further identification,” he said.

Mr Chilabi said an inquiry file has since been opened.
