Zambia’s swimming team has added four more medals to its collection at the current Africa Union Sports Council Region 5 competition.
The four swimmers became the newest sport to bring home medals for Zambia with one silver and four bronze.
JADE PHIRI of Zambia won silver in the 50-meter butterfly with a time of 28.92, just a fraction behind South Africa, who won gold with a time of 28.72.
The other four bronze medals were won by the four-by-100-meter relay team, consisting of JOHANNA COATES, MARLISE FINDLAY, MIA PHIRI, and JADE PHIRI.
The Zambian swimmers’ performance on Monday was praised as brilliant by their coach, IAN STEPHENSON, who is still optimistic that his athletes will win a gold medal.
