The body of Zambian student LEMEKANI NYIRENDA, who perished in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, has arrived.
Yesterday around 3pm, the jet carrying LEMEKANI’s body landed at KENNETH KAUNDA International Airport.
Family members and government representatives gathered to receive NYIRENDA’s remains.
The state’s forensic pathologist’s office, which is situated at UTH, will handle the medical legal death investigations, according to family representative IAN BANDA.
According to Dr. BANDA, the funeral and burial won’t start until all necessary processes have been completed.
Government will offer the necessary support and is in mourning with the family, according to CHEMBO MBULA, Permanent Secretary of the Administration for Foreign Affairs.
The delegation was accompanied by Zambia’s ambassador to Russia, SHADRECK LUWITA, who stated that Zambia’s presence in Russia is there to make sure that all information is verified.
