Token identification-TID rollover exercise, which has been started by ZESCO, will result in the nationwide upgrade of prepaid meter software.
Each prepaid power token that is generated at the moment of purchase has its own unique identification thanks to a specific code called the token identifier.
The software in all power meters must be updated, and certain outdated meters must be replaced nationwide, according to ZESCO Managing Director VICTOR MAPANI, as part of the token identification rollover.
This was said in a speech delivered on his behalf at the launch in Lusaka today by PETER CHAMFYA, Director of Distribution and Customer Service for ZESCO.
The improvement, according to ZESCO Deputy Director of Transmission Assets CLEMENT SIAME, is a need for the Company because it will affect more than 1 million clients.
According to Mr. SIAME, the nationwide roll over will be carried out in stages, with Chilenje and the adjacent areas designated as phase one and the public informed of the remaining locations as the project progresses.
