Members of the Ministry of Finance and National Planning, as well as the Office of the Auditor General, are the subject of ongoing investigations. The Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA) has advised members to fully cooperate with the investigative agencies and law enforcement officers in providing information.
According to ZICA President CECILIA ZIMBA, the group won’t take a position on the situation until investigations are finished.
However, Ms. ZIMBA pointed out that ZICA supports the government in its battle against corruption and other financial crimes while upholding and promoting the highest standards of professional ethics and integrity among its Members.
This was said by Ms. ZIMBA in a statement given to ZNBC News in Lusaka.
According to her, as long as its Members conduct themselves with professionalism, integrity, and strict adherence to the rules of the Public Finance Management Act, ZICA will continue to support and stand by them.
Ms. ZIMBA added that none of the organization’s members working in the public sector have been the subject of any official communications or complaints.
