Arsenal Transfer News: Chelsea Accepts Jorginho Offer
Sport)Arsenal and Chelsea have reached an agreement for £12 million to bring in Italy midfielder Jorginho.
The 31-year-old is in the last six months of his deal at Stamford Bridge after moving from Napoli to Chelsea in 2018.
Before signing an 18-month deal with an additional year’s option, he will now undergo a medical.
After having two bids for Moises Caicedo rejected by Brighton, the Gunners focused on Jorginho.
Caicedo is not for sale, according to Brighton, and it seems more and more probable that the Ecuadorian midfielder will stay with the team after the 11 p.m. deadline.
Jorginho is expected to be Arsenal’s third acquisition of the January transfer window after the club acquired Leandro Trossard of Belgium from Brighton for £21 million and Poland’s Jakub Kiwior from Spezia for 20 million euros.
The team led by Mikel Arteta has a game in hand over the teams directly below them and leads the Premier League by five points.
In 213 games with Chelsea, Jorginho has scored 29 goals and helped the team win the Champions League, Europa League, Uefa Super Cup, and Fifa Club World Cup.
Although he was born in Brazil, he came to Italy when he was 15 years old and decided to represent the Azzurri internationally.
He has 46 caps and was a member of the Italy team that defeated England at Wembley in July 2021 to win Euro 2020.
