A man was recently caught smuggling 104 live snakes in the pockets of his pants in China, according to customs officials.

China Customs released security camera footage on Tuesday showing the alleged smuggler walking through a passage for travellers with nothing to declare at Futian Port in Shenzhen. Reuters was not able to independently verify the location or the date the video was filmed.

An accompanying caption on the Weibo account of China Customs said officers intercepted the man and found six canvas bags sealed with adhesive tape inside the pockets of his pants.

Five different species of snakes were identified, of which three were alien to China. Officials said they were pursuing legal action against the man for violating animal import and biosafety laws.
