Two pairs of men’s shoes worth K1,145 that belonged to a Kitwe man have been found stolen from a Local store.
The shoes are allegedly missing, according to Charles Mulenga, 25, of Chamboli Township.
In the heart of Kitwe’s town, on Matuka Avenue, the incident took place at 14:00.
Peacewell Mweemba, the commanding officer of Copperbelt Province, reported that Charles went to the store and chose two pairs of shoes.
A short while later, according to Mr. Mweemba, the suspect made the decision to depart the store without paying for the shoes.
He claimed that store manager Hellen Kalala 26 noticed that the screening sensor had activated as soon as Charles left the store’s entrance.
According to Mr. Mweemba, Kalala noted the suspect had departed without paying at that point.
“The store manager noted that one customer upon passing through the exit door, the screen sensor went off sending a signal that the items on him had not been punched and paid for at the counter,”he said.
He claimed that despite Hellen’s efforts to stop Charles, the latter fled, moving toward the City Square grounds.
According to Mr. Mweemba, other bystanders pursued the culprit until he was caught.
He claimed that following his arrest, the shoes were found and the incident was reported to the police.
