MultiChoice donates GOtv decoders to children’s hospital at UTH

MultiChoice Zambia has donated 10 GOtv decoders equipped with a one-year full subscription on each to The University Teaching Hospital (UTH) children’s hospital.

As part of its ongoing festive campaign, the donation is aimed at sharing the joy of the festive season with the children and their caregivers.

“We understand that being in hospital over the festive period and after can be a very difficult time for patients – especially children. We hope that through this donation children may delight in some of the exciting content available and that in some way brings a smile to their faces and that of their parents or family members who are helping to look after them in the hospital,” said Mrs Leah Kooma, Managing Director, MultiChoice Zambia.

As a business deep-rooted in the communities in which we operate, we want to share the joy of the festive and holiday season and beyond by bringing exciting entertainment to our children in the hospital.“These children, as patients in the hospital, are confined to the wards so it is our hope that the access they will have to entertainment and other children’s content will help to cheer them, their families and medical support teams up,” she added.

Speaking when he received the donation, University Teaching Hospitals, Children’s Hospital Senior Medical Superintendent Dr Musaku Mwenechanya said: “We are very grateful to MultiChoice Zambia for this thoughtful gesture as it will go a long way in helping hospitalized children by providing audio-visual stimulation which is an important ingredient of recovery as well as general child development.

“In addition, children have the right information particularly on health-related issues and this donation provides an appropriate medium for this dissemination,” said Dr Mwenechanya.

In July MultiChoice Zambia donated critical Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and supplies worth K225,000 to the Surgical Society of Zambia (SSZ) to help the country with the fight against Covid-19 and strengthen its response efforts.“As MultiChoice, we will continue our investments in the communities in which we operate, through entertainment, enterprise and economic development as we celebrate enriching Zambian lives,” reiterated Mrs. Kooma
