1,680 Lives Are Lost In Road Accidents

From January through September of this year, 24,612 traffic accidents in Zambia were reported.

According to the Road Transport and Safety Agency, this is an increase of 31% from the previous year.

1,674 of the traffic incidents were serious, and 1,680 people died as a result, according to RTSA Board Chairperson ALLEN MATE.

According to Mr. MATE, this also represents a 10.4% rise from 2021, and 47% of the deaths were pedestrians who died as a result of irresponsible driving.

He has urged drivers to put road safety first as they enjoy the holiday season.

Mr. MATE was addressing in Lusaka at the beginning of the 2022 Road Safety Week.
