Since the first measles case was reported in the Mpulungu district in November of last year, Northern Province has seen more than 300 cases of the disease.
The measles has also been reported in the Senga Hill, Mbala, and Nsama areas, according to Northern Province Health Specialist PAUL MAYEYA.
Dr. MAYEYA has nevertheless given the impacted regions the assurance that the Ministry of Health is on high alert to combat the illness by tightening oversight of normal immunization activities.
The provincial health administration is also running measles vaccination campaigns in the impacted districts and the remainder of the province, he told ZANIS in Kasama.
Dr. MAYEYA stated that medical professionals are still educating the general population about the disease and how to recognize it.
