Due to concerns about the quality, Zambia Compulsory Standards Agency (ZCSA) has ordered Zambia Breweries Plc to recall two batches of Castle Lite beer.
The concerned batches, according to ZCSA Communications Officer CAROLINE KALOMBE, are 319 and 227.
Additionally, Ms. KALOMBE disclosed that the ZCSA had quarantined 1,656 cases of Castle Lite worth over K303,592 each.
She claims that the action was taken in response to an Agency probe into the product’s safety.
The impacted product, according to Ms. KALOMBE, was quarantined in Lusaka, Mansa, and Ndola.
She claims that in order to ensure that the health and safety of customers are not in danger, the agency has ordered Zambia Breweries to perform a public recall of the affected batches right away and to tell it of the quantities recalled and the corrective measures taken.
According to Ms. KALOMBE, some of the batches that were quarantined would be at their finest between February 1 and March 15, 2023.
She has additionally advised the general public not to consume Castle Lite from the contaminated batches up till investigations are finished and additional advice is given.
Distributors have also been encouraged by Ms. KALOMBE not to distribute the problematic batches until an investigation is complete and advice has been given.
