Germany and Zambia discuss cooperation in development

Government to government discussions between Germany and Zambia have started regarding development cooperation for the years 2023 to 2024.

The negotiations are intended to define Germany’s framework of support for the years 2023 to 2024, according to FELIX NKULUKUSA, Secretary to the Treasury and head of Zambia’s delegation to Berlin, the capital of Germany.

In his introductory remarks, Mr. NKULUKUSA informed the audience that Germany’s current assistance in a number of sectors is consistent with the national priorities of Zambia as outlined in the Eighth National Development Plan.

According to him, Zambia would also step up initiatives that support accountability and transparency in the 8NDP.

According to Mr. NKULUKUSA, Zambia will implement legal and judicial reforms to improve democratic and budgetary governance.

SVENJA SCHULZE, the German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, stated that the two nations’ strong and close relationship is founded on their shared desire to combat poverty and inequality as well as advance democracy, the rule of law, and human rights.
