Government Promises Early FISP Distribution the 2023–2024 season

Farmers have been reassured by the Ministry of Agriculture that the delivery of farming inputs for the 2023–2024 growing season will be completed early.

Green Mbozi, the permanent secretary for agriculture, claims that the ministry has learned from difficulties encountered in the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP) during the 2022–2023 season.

According to Mr. MBOZI, the Ministry has subsequently implemented procedures to reduce difficulties in the farming season of 2023–2024.

He claims that before the end of January, the ministry should post an advertisement seeking suppliers of seed and fertilizer for the 2023–2024 season.

Mr. MBOZI stated in an interview with ZNBC News in Lusaka that his ministry expects to begin distributing inputs for the upcoming farming season by the end of August this year.

For the current season, he said that 974 269 farmers have returned their inputs totaling 973 74,000.
